Dennis Strzegowski is a talent acquisition professional with a passion for building talent pipelines and organizing and growing recruiting teams. He is dedicated to helping young professionals develop their skill sets and align their skills and experience with their professional goals. He is experienced as a mentor and leader, mentoring entry-level to senior-level recruiters and managers within his organization. He has over 15 years of experience recruiting the financial industry throughout a variety of roles.
In 2011, Dennis Strzegowski started as a Talent Acquisition Manager at NewDay USA, a leading VA mortgage company. In both 2012 and 2013, Dennis earned the title of “Recruiter of the Year”. He also earned a place in the President’s Club for four consecutive years.
In 2013, Dennis Strzegowski was promoted to Assistant Vice President of Recruiting. In this role, Dennis developed and executed an effective strategy to increase retention. As a direct result of those efforts, new hire retention increased from 51 percent to 79 percent. He also overhauled the legacy recruiting process which included a compensation restructure, the implementation of a new applicant tracking system, scripting, and recruiting best practices.
In 2014, Dennis Strzegowksi was promoted to his current role as Vice President of Talent Acquisition. In this position, Dennis reports directly to NewDay USA’s CEO and is responsible for providing regular presentations and updates on the new recruiting model, employee referral program, university talent pipeline, and overall performance. Since his promotion to Vice President, Dennis has successfully increased the overall headcount from 120 employees in 2013 to over 600 today. This accomplishment was achieved by the successful revamping of the company’s recruiting process, building a world-class internship, and driving focus on employee retention and satisfaction.
In addition to his work for NewDay USA, Dennis also spends time working as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Maryland Smith School of Business where he teaches a class called Career Strategies. Dennis attended the University of Maryland and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communication in 2001.
Before beginning his work as a talent acquisition professional, Dennis Strzegowski worked in the finance industry. He was a loan officer for WellsFargo for two years, where he was bestowed with the “Million Dollar Producer” award. He then moved on to Global Mortgage, where he worked as a Branch Manager for three years. As a branch manager, Dennis recruited and hired over 20 loan officers. He also developed and implemented successful recruiting and onboarding programs.
In his personal life, Dennis Strzegowski is an avid fan of Baltimore sports. He also enjoys golfing, finance, and real estate. He has also spent time volunteering for the Howard County Chamber’s Young Professionals Network (YPN). YPN is a group of young and seasoned professionals who work together to increase business opportunities and inspire emerging leaders. They provide opportunities for members to network with leaders in the community in an effort to make Howard Country a better place to live, play, shop, and work.
